Potholes in Basildon still waiting for repair, eight months after first complaint

A MAN is still waiting for a dangerous section of road to be repaired near his home, despite lodging a complaint about potholes which are deep enough to stand in eight months ago.

Roy Wheatley, 39, of Clickett Hill, Basildon, first got in touch with Essex County Council about the poor condition of the road surface in Nether Priors in August last year.

However, despite numerous attempts since then to bring it to the council’s attention, no repairs have been carried out and he says the potholes, which are on a blind corner of the road, are getting worse.

An Essex County Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the defect at Nether Priors which will be repaired within the next two weeks, depending on the weather.”

I am out driving the roads of billericay every weekend. Some of them are in an utterly inexcusable state. Western road is a good example. Junction of out wood common road and greens farm lane, Jacksons lane. Most of them are exactly the same places that they fill in year after year after year. The last three cars I have owned spanning 7 years have all had money spent on repairs following pothole incidents. Hundreds and hundreds of pounds. Brand new tyres blown out, wheels dented, suspension coils snapped, tracking and re-balancing. Bottom line is, they couldn't give a f.
