TWO people have been arrested following a woman being thrown against a lamp post as she tried to stop car-jackers stealing her car.

A 35-year-old man from Basildon is being questioned by police after the incident in Curling Tye, Basildon, at about 2.30pm on Thursday. He was arrested this morning at an address in Canvey and taken to Basildon Police Station.

A 33-year-old woman from Basildon was also arrested yesterday afternoon but has been released on bail until Friday, February 21, pending further enquiries.

The victim was on her way to collect her child from school when thieves targeted her for her grey Honda CR-V outside her home.

She clung on to the bonnet of the car but was thrown into a lamp post. She suffered injuries to her pelvis and arm and was rushed to Basildon Hospital.

She is now recovering at home.

More witnesses are still needed to come forward. Anyone with information should call detectives at Basildon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
