IT won’t be just the cake that’s in tiers, customers at Fancy Nancy will be as well after news the shop is being moved out of Leigh.

Owner Juliet Sear, plans to move the business to London.

She said: “The shop’s lease is up in April and it made me think long and hard about whether I wanted to commit to another four years at the premises.

“I love the area and will be sad to leave, but being in London will allowme to be more central with my work and give me a chance to do more food writing.”

Juliet has built up a strong celebrity clientele, including Alexa Chung, Dizzee Rascal and Fearne Cotton to name but a few.

She said: “I am in talks over two potential premises, one of which is in Shoreditch.

The business has built up a good reputation among celebrities over the years, so it would be good to be close to where everything’s happening,” she says.

The majority of Juliet’s work is making bespoke cakes so she no longer needs to have a walkin shop like in Leigh.

Instead, she will have a base from where she can work on her various baking projects.

She says: “It has not been an easy decision because I love Leigh and the customers here.

“My dad has helped out with the business since the start and so he was upset when I broke the news to him. But I think it’s the right move for the business.”
