Police are appealing for witnesses after a security van driver was robbed of a cashbox in Langdon Hills.

Just before 3pm a cash box was taken from a security guard at The Harvester restaurant in High Road by two men wearing balaclavas. No weapons were used and the man was uninjured.

These men then got in to a silver BMW coupe, registration LS58 FKN, being driven by a third man. This vehicle is believed to have been in convoy with a white transit van, possibly a Mercedes Sprinter.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw these two vehicles in the area to contact them.

The cash box was later found discarded nearby with the contents, a four-figure sum of cash, missing.

Police are also looking to trace two witnesses who were inside the Harvester when the robbery took place. They gave details of the BMW to staff but had left prior to police arrival.

The BMW was stolen from Crosse Court, Laindon, between 7am and the time of the offence.

These people or anyone else with information is asked to contact Dc Lucy Bowman of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
