Detectives would like to trace a man who may have information that could assist them with a murder investigation.

It follows the death of a 32-year-old man, who was found with stab wounds near woodland in Sporhams, Basildon, shortly after 10pm on Wednesday August 26. He died the following day in hospital.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Morgan Cronin said: "A man wearing a red cap was seen driving a silver car in Kingswood Road at about 9.30pm on August 26.

"We would like to speak to him as he may have information that could help with our investigation.”

Five men have been charged with murder and a 16-year-old boy has been charged with assisting an offender. Their cases are currently before the courts.

A 39-year-old from Laindon was arrested on Tuesday September 22 on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on bail until October 26, pending further enquiries.
