Woman's lucky escape after collision with trailer

A WOMAN had a lucky escape after her car was nearly crushed under a lorry.

The female car driver escaped without injury after her Renault Megane collided with the trailer of a lorry reversing into the entrance to ASDA in Pipps Hill retail park, off Miles Gray Road, Basildon.

Shocked shoppers described how the car was dragged along by the lorry.

An onlooker said: “She was lucky she wasn’t decapitated. If there hadn’t been bars along the underside of the lorry the car would have gone straight under it.”

Police closed the road after the incident, at around 9am, while the damaged car was loaded into a recovery vehicle and towed away.

An ambulance was called but the woman was fine.

The lorry driver drove away at 10.20am and the road was reopened.

It's good to hear she was not hurt, but how on earth do you collide with a slow moving (in reverse no less!) 18' trailer unless you're not paying attention to the road ahead?
I wasn't there so can only speculate, but it's not like this huge lorry can stop suddenly, cut you up & then start reversing...Also Echo have reported that the car was nearly crushed?? The front end looks pretty crushed to me!
And finally, how do you load a car 'into' a recovery truck?

Let's hope the coffee didn't spill or her make up got smudged!

If you Know LeS, you'll know the company who own the lorry? i knew it immediately having seen them several times and I know by now living not too far from their depot.

Like AJZ asked, HOW do you load a car INTO a recovery truck? Further, they are a Lorry actually, as Truck is American and this IS the UK where the term LORRY is used, thanks.
