Car thieves strike again

First published in Echo News by

TWO cars in neighbouring streets were broken into during the same night.

The first incident happened in Great Gregorie, Laindon when thieves smashed the window of a Ford causing £100 damage.

Once inside they searched the car before stealing a sat nav worth £70.

At the same time thieves also targeted a Ford parked in nearby Ingaway. They again smashed the window, causing £100 damage, before stealing a Sony stereo worth £50.

The break-ins are part of a continuing spate of vehicle crime to hit the borough as the Echo revealed earlier this week.

The break-ins happened between 5pm on Saturday and 8.10am the next day, can contact PC Marek Jaworski at the Basildon.

I was always told that everywhere to the west of Nethermayne and the Roundacre was Laindon.

So where exactly does Laindon start then?

if you go West along Nicholas Lane, just past the junction with Leinster Road there is a small sign that declares 'Laindon'. I believe that Leinster Road/Markhams Chase make up the Eastern boundary of Laindon along with Laindon Link/Haterill - although years of fiddling with boundaries by successive Councils in order to try and partition voters may have made these arbitrary
