Police called to Wickford over suspect package

POLICE were called to the arcade, in Wickford, following reports of a suspect package.

A man had found a bag in Southend Road the night before and loaded it into his car.

But when he opened it the following day, he feared it had weapons inside.

Officers were called out at about 11.30am today to find they were Airsoft equipment which had already been reported missing by the owner.

good point spaffspiff - it's stories like these which the Echo brings us which have simply taken the edge off the Olympics for me. It shook me to the core................

This doesn't sound like a "suspect package" if the person who found it put it in their car overnight!

Sounds more like man finds bag which he takes, sees guns in it the next day and gets very worried so hands it in!
