CCTV images of two men wanted in connection with a knifepoint robbery have been released.

The pair entered the convenience store in Whitmore Way, Basildon, and threatened the cashier with a knife. However the pair got more than they bargained for when staff chased them out of the shop and they left empty-handed.

The suspect with the knife is described as in his late teens to 20-years-old, of medium build, 6ft tall, and was wearing a dark grey or green jacket with a hood and black sports bottoms.

The second man is a shorter, black man of muscular build wearing a balaclava, black sleeveless jacket with a long sleeved black top underneath and carrying a white and red drawstring bag on his back.

The incident happened at 3.40pm on Monday, June 4. The Echo reported at the time how a mum was forced to drag her two young children out the way as the men threatened staff with a knife, at the Premier store.

Anyone with any information about their identities is asked to contact DC Nick May at the Serious Crime team at Basildon on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
