A BRIDAL boutique has been inundated with custom since it appeared on a popular TV programme.

Viewers of BBC Three’s Don’t Tell the Bride, on Tuesday, saw history-loving groom Nathan Bones agonise over the perfect dress for his party-loving finance Nikki Bacon.

He had just two weeks and a £12,000 budget to organise every detail of the Basildon couple’s big day, but was helped by Michelle Robinson and Lauryn Gasson from Serena Bridal in Hodgson Way, Wickford .

Manager Mrs Gasson said: “Nathan was lovely and the filming was really good fun. They were actually here for quite a long time – that’s what you don’t realise about TV.

“He really understood Nikki’s figure and wanted something which would suit her petite frame. I’m a big fan of the show and sometimes the grooms don’t always take it seriously, but you could tell he was really committed.

“She really loved the dress he chose, which was the most important thing.”

After getting a model to try out a large selection of dresses, Nathan finally decided on a fitted number with a layered bottom and lots of diamante detailing.

Despite the Basildon couple seemingly being opposites, they went on to have a successful wedding in May, and are happy together.

Nikki had always dreamed of a modern, pink, girly, Essex-style wedding, but Nathan’s theme was pomp and pageantry.

He dressed in full Napoleonic uniform and held the ceremony at a fancy state room in London.

Don’t Tell The Bride producers contacted Serena Bridal ahead of their shopping trip at the store, but would not give any details away about the couple.

The team jumped at the chance to feature in the show, and the decision had paid off.

Mrs Gasson said: “We have had a lot of people ringing up and lots of people contacting us on our Facebook page since they recognised Serena Bridal from the show.

“It was a really good experience and we’re so glad we got involved. “Watching the shop on TV was a bit strange, but absolutely fantastic. It’s not every day you get a film crew coming in.”
