PUPILS had a taste of the Olympics when they tried white water rafting at Lee Valley White Water Centre.
The students from Basildon Upper Academy represented the town a schools festival with hundreds of teenagers from across London, Essex and Hertfordshire.
It was the first festival at the venue since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where Lee Valley played host to the canoe slalom.
London 2012 Canoe Slalom gold medalists Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie also returned to the scene of their triumph to witness the completion of the first phase of post-Olympics development work at the centre.
