A VANGE couple have had enough of living next door to a “death trap”.

Natasha Lindfield and Mike Jennings, quite literally have to walk the plank to get in and out of their home in Middle Crockerford.

Developers Hill Partnerships are building 120 affordable homes around the couple’s block.

This means the couple can only access their home via a narrow plank of scaffolding.

Miss Lindfield, 25, said: “They have created this extremely narrow entrance to our block.

“I was very worried to put my feet on it. They have put planks up, but they are very wobbly.”

But, it is not just the wobbly entrance that has infuriated the couple. They say their lives are being made a misery by the constant work.

Mr Jennings, 30, said: “The work has been going on for a few months now.

“They are building other blocks around the area and keep going from one to the other so it is never getting finished.

“They have left where we live in a right state. To be quite frank, it’s a deathtrap.”

The couple say they are fed-up with views of mechanical diggers and mounds of earth from their kitchen window and being woken early in the morning by inconsiderate builders.

Power was also cut to the couple’s block, which contains 10 flats, a few weeks ago and they fear the building site, which is fenced off, could be entered by children during the summer holidays.

Hill Partnerships began the £14.5million project to build 120 new, affordable homes in March.

The Echo tried to contact the company on several occasions but failed to get a response.
