A SENSORY room at Kingsdown school, is a step closer to being refurbished – thanks to thousands of steps taken by staff and supporters.
Staff, therapists, parents and friends of the Southend special school raised more than £4,700 on the Echo-sponsored Moonlight Colourthon walk earlier this month.
The money will go towards a £25,000 revamp of the special room, which is for blind, deaf and special needs children.
Office manager Jackie West said: “It’s going to be used for relaxation and stimulation.
“It’s going to be interactive with music, bubble tubes, an aroma panel they can push to get different smells, a vibrating ball pool and a colour wall which changes when they press it.”
More than £9,000 has been raised, but the school is still keen to hear from potential sponsors.
Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor can contact Kingsdown School on 01702 507602.
