POLICE are hunting a thug who hit a man five times with a metal pole.

The teenaged victim was left with injuries to his head, arm, shoulder and back following the attack in Maidstone Road, Grays.

The attacker got out of a light blue car, armed with the two-foot metal pole which he used in the attack.

Laura Anderson, police spokesman, said: “This was a nasty attack, in which the victim was lucky to only receive slight injuries, given the weapon used and the number of times the suspect struck him. We have a very good description of the attacker and the vehicle he was seen emerging from.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who saw the attack, the moments leading up to it or anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”

The attacker was a white man, aged 20 to 24, 6ft 3ins tall, slim, with blonde, shaved hair.

He wore a white Nike T-shirt with a baby blue Nike tick on the front, navy blue tracksuit bottoms with two stripes on each leg, one white and one red.

Witnesses to the assault, at 9.15pm on Tuesday, are asked contact police at Grays on 0300 3334444.
