A TEENAGER was robbed of his mobile phone after being tapped on the shoulder by a thief.
Terrified and believing the mugger had a weapon, the boy handed over his black Nokia 5310 phone, worth £110.
The robber then asked for cash and when the victim said he had none, the attacker ran off along in Afton Drive, South Ockendon.
Police spokesman Laura Anderson said: “We would ask anyone who recognises his attacker or who saw the robbery take place to call us.”
The robber was a slim, white man, aged between 25 and 35, 5ft 8ins tall, with a brown moustache, wearing a black woolly hat, a black jumper and black trousers.
Witnesses to the robbery, at about 5.15pm last Wednesday are asked to call police on 0300 3334444, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5551111.
