A WOMAN was sprayed in the face with a noxious substance after she disturbed burglars in her home.
The woman, who is in her 40s, came across two men in her home at Rochford Road, Southend.
They fled empty-handed about 1.40pm today in a Vauxhall Corsa which was parked in a layby in Eastwoodbury Crescent.
The woman suffered no lasting injuries and declined hospital treatement.
The men were both white and the first suspect was aged about 18 to 20 and 5ft 5ins tall.
He had a thin face and was wearing a dark tracksuit and a grey hat with earflaps and tassles hanging down.
The second suspect was taller and wearing a dark hooded top.
