A MAN threatening to take his own life in the estuary off Westcliff sparked a large rescue yesterday.
At around 5.35pm, Southend coastguard, RNLI hovercraft and inshore lifeboat, Essex Police helicopter and the ambulance service were called out to the man.
The hovercraft took police officers out to the man and he was apprehended and taken to shore where the other emergency services were waiting.
