CALLOUS thieves have stolen a collection pot from a Westcliff charity shop.
They targeted the Mind charity shop in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff between 11am and noon on Monday, September 6.
The thieves cut the chain which secured the collection pot to the till and made off with it.
The pot was blue and had Mind stickers on it. It contained coins to an estimated value of £5.
PC Sue Hellier said: “For someone to purposely target a charity shop and go to the trouble of cutting through a security chain, all for the sake of £5 in loose change, is shocking.
"Did you see someone acting strangely in the shop on Monday, or have you since come across the discarded collection pot? If so, I’d be pleased to hear from you.”
PC Hellier can be reached at Leigh police station on 0300 3334444.
