Great Wakering Rovers look for revenge against Bethnal Green

GREAT Wakering manager Dan Trenkel, right, feels tonight’s visitors to Burroughs Park, Bethnal Green, are the best side they have faced this season and says they want to gain some revenge for a defeat to them earlier in the season.

The east Londoners enjoyed a 2-0 win against Rovers in September’s reverse fixture, and they come into the game on the back of a 2-1 home win over Barking on Saturday.

Trenkel, whose side won 2-0 at home to Sawbridgeworth Town on Saturday, said: “Bethnal Green, I think, are the best team we’ve played this season. “They beat us when we played there and we really do owe them one.”

Trenkel said he had no new injury worries ahead of the game, and had quality players who could come back into the fold.

He said: “We’ve got boys who’ve not even got into the squad today, like Luca Frankis, who would be a striker for any team in this league, and Ashley Hawkins, who would be one of the best players in this league.

“And Jay Nash was away today, and he scored a hat-trick in his last game. “So I’ve got 19 or 20 players that I’ve got to try and keep happy, and we might change a couple of little things for Tuesday night.”

Rovers will overtake Essex Senior League leaders Burnham Ramblers with a win against ninth-placed Bethnal Green tonight. Kick-off at Burroughs Park is at 7.45pm.
