Essex Senior League round up: Basildon United lose three-goal lead as FC Romania fight back
FC Romania 3, Basildon United 3
BASILDON United surrendered a 3-0 half-time lead as they ended up with a point at FC Romania.
Angelo Oguneye gave them a 10th minute lead then doubled their advantage on 36 minutes following a great run by Greg Akpele.
And when Akpele scored with a fantastic header from the edge of the box three minutes later, the Bees looked set for victory.
But goals after the break for the hosts from George Martin (46 minutes), Petrou Budeau (70) and Ilie Vasili (84) ensured the points were shared.
Southend Manor 1, Enfield 1893 4
MANOR breached the Enfield defence for the first time in the league this season – but it was still not enough to stop them slipping to a comprehensive defeat.
Manor’s goal came 10 minutes from time when Mark Sisson was fouled by the keeper and Tom Newell converted the spot kick.
But the league leaders kept their 100 per cent record in tact with goals from John Bricknell, Harry Prince, Robbie Evans, and an own goal.
And Manor’s day was not helped by the 65th minute dismissal of Bradley Williams, apparently for dissent.
Bowers & Pitsea 2, London Bari 0
THE returning Calvin Poku inspired Bowers to their first league win of the season on Saturday.
The prolific marksman tapped home a 45th minute opener to give them the lead against bottom-of-the-table Bari.
Debutant Billy Colvin hit their second a minute from time to give John Doyle’s side a welcome three points.
Takeley 2, Hullbridge Sports 1
A VERY early goal and a late winner did for Sports at Takeley on Saturday.
There were just 37 seconds on the clock when the in-form Reece Dobson latched onto a chip over the top and finished to put the hosts in front.
Sports came back strongly and deserved their equaliser early in the second half when Tom Peck cut in from the right and blasted the ball into the roof of the net.
But with Sports pushing forward Takeley mounted a quick counter and Dobson cut the ball back for Anton Collins to score an 82nd minute winner.
