Bryant equaliser hands East Thurrock United FA Trophy replay against Dover Athletic

DAVID Bryant gave East Thurrock United a second bite of the cherry in their FA Trophy first round match against Dover Athletic.

Thomas Murphy made the breakthrough at Rookery Hill for Dover in the 79th minute.

But striker Bryant netted in the 87th minute in front of a 273-strong crowd to force a replay for John Coventry’s side on Tuesday night.

But Concord Rangers crashed out of the trophy after going behind to an early Michael Gosney goal at Gosport Borough.

Midfielder Gosney netted in the 18th minute and the Beachboys were unable to find an equaliser.

Billericay Town moved up to 10th in the Ryman Premier Division with a 1-0 win away to Cray Wanderers.

The visitors took the lead in the 59th minute through Benjamin and things got worse for Cray nine minutes from time when they were reduced to 10 men when Helge Orome was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Loan signing Moses Ademola put Canvey Island in front at Margate but the Gulls were forced to settle for a draw in front of 393 fans.

Gary Borrowdale equalized for the Gate in the 81st minute to leave Danny Heale’s Canvey 15th in the table.

East Thurrock are 18th but were not in league action due to their FA Trophy match.

Essex Senior League leaders Great Wakering Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by Basildon United at Burroughs Park.

Tyler Hayes gave the Bees the lead in the 39th minute from a corner but the Wakering turned the screw in the later stages as they pressed for an equalizer.

Dan Trenkel’s team secured a point in the second minute of stoppage time when David Collins scored from the penalty spot after Hayes handled in the box.

Alex Tenola headed Bowers & Pitsea ahead at Tower Hamlets but the east Londoners salvaged a point in a 1-1 draw.

Southend Manor went down 3-0 at Barking, but Hullbridge Sports secured a 3-1 win away to Greenhouse London.
