THE weather again hit the south Essex non-league scene hard on Saturday.

East Thurrock’s 1-1 draw against Enfield Town at Rookery Hill was the only fixture to beat the conditions as waterlogged pitches again led to a host of fixtures being postponed.

Canvey Island saw their Essex derby trip to AFC Hornchurch postponed following a pitch inspection on Friday afternoon.

And Billericay’s trip to Wealdstone suffered the same fate on Saturday morning to make it four postponements on the trot for Craig Edwards’ team.

Canvey are 13th in the Ryman Premier standings, with Billericay two points adrift in 14th, although Town have four matches in hand on the Gulls.

Concord Rangers’ trip to Tonbridge Angels was one of five Skrill South matches to fall foul of the weather. Danny Cowley’s Beachboys are 12th in the table.

Hullbridge Sports’ trip to Sholing in the fourth round of the FA Vase was postponed on Friday, with Dan Braney’s troops due to make the trip Southampton tomorrow evening.
