Danny Cowley has said his side are “daring to dream” of the play-offs after his side moved onto 50 points.

The Concord Rangers manager spoke after Saturday’s victory against Farnborough took them to their pre-season points target with ten league matches remaining.

Cowley said his side had surpassed themselves this season, and had risen to every challenge that faced them. Concord’s 2-0 win on Saturday was their seventh on the road this campaign.

“We always said 50 points should be enough and we can now afford to look up the league. To get to the target is as big an achievement as winning promotion last year. It is a massive jump in terms of quality and organisation and we really had to make that step up quickly.

“If you look at the resources open to some of the other teams then we can only be delighted at the steps the club has made in one season.

“It is testament to everyone’s hard work and when you put so much in it is even more rewarding when you reap the benefits.”

Cowley said he was now starting to look at the sides above them in the table, with The Beachboys only five points behind Dover Athletic, in the final play-off place, with three games in hand on their rivals.

“It is a nice luxury to be able to look up the division but the only problem is I don’t know who I want to win and who I want to lose.

“However, we are not getting carried away and are keeping our feet on the ground.”

Cowley said he was not yet thinking about next season – although said his side now had the enviable task of beating their achievements this campaign.

“Whenever you overachieve it makes everything you do in the future that bit harder and emulating what we have done seems impossible.”

Concord travel to Tonbridge Angels tonight, who are currently in a relegation battle to stay in the Skrill South, with Cowley expecting a tough match against a side they have not yet faced this season.

“They are fighting for their lives and we are taking nothing for granted.

“The teams in the relegation places are the hardest games at this time of the season and I fully expect one of our hardest games of the season.”
