GREAT Wakering will not be getting their Essex Senior League winners speech warmed up if they beat second-placed Tower Hamlets tomorrow.

Player-manager Dan Trenkel said even if his Rovers’ side get three points in the crucial match involving the two title chasers, he still believes there is lots at stake over the final few weeks of the season.

He said confidence is high in the changing room after setting a new club record of 15 games unbeaten.

But despite this superb form, he thinks the league title is within reach of four teams.

Trenkel said: “I think Haringey are going to have a massive say in this title and obviously Tower Hamlets and Enfield are going to be there right to the end.

“We just have to make sure that we keep on taking care of our games and put as much pressure as we can on those teams.”

When the sides met on the opening day of the season at Burroughs Park, Rovers won 2-0 with Trenkel saying it was a good game of football and expects tomorrow’s clash to be a “tough affair”.

“At this stage, with what’s at stake, it is going to take a lot of courage and determination from our players to get the right result,” Trenkel said.

“The lads don’t need too much motivation at the moment though as they know how big every game is.

“Lewis Sparrow, Nick Skelton, Billy Johnson and Jay Nash were at Soham on the day we got relegated in 2012 and I expect their experience that day will drive them on to succeed and this will rub off on the others.”

Jay Smith and Aaron Baldwin (both knee ligament strains) are both out injured for Rovers, but Max Kent is expected to recover in time after missing Tuesday’s victory at Takeley due to work commitments.
