Leigh Ramblers edge closer to Essex Olympian League Division One title

LEIGH Ramblers only need to avoid defeat tomorrow to secure the Essex Olympian Division One title.

Ramblers have already got promotion to the Premier Division in the bag ahead of the crunch clash at Belfairs Park.

And they just need to prevent third-placed Springfield winning as the mid-Essex club’s superior goal difference would see them take the championship and secure promotion alongside Ramblers.

A defeat or draw for Springfield will see Hutton promoted alongside Ramblers.

Rochford Town have been in good form all season following their return to intermediate football.

They have already secured promotion from Division Three but still harbour title ambitions.

The second-placed team lock horns with leaders Snaresbrook tomorrow knowing a win would put them top with two games in hand.

The pressure is on Snaresbrook as only a point separates them and Rochford, who face a derby clash at mid-table Stambridge United on Monday.

White Ensign could consign Harold Hill to relegation if they can beat them in the Premier Division tomorrow.

Eastwood-based Ensign have had a disappointing season and are not clear of the drop themselves as they are in the relegation zone and five points adrift of Harold Wood Athletic.

Harold Wood head to Rayleigh Town, who will be looking to get back to winning ways following their midweek 2-1 defeat at home to Kelvedon Hatch. Basildon Town are third in Division Two and host Shenfield AFC, who missed the Division Two title but have won promotion alongside champions Ongar Town.

Despite having nothing at stake, the match could produce goals as Shenfield’s Billy Texeria has netted 22 times this season, while Marcus Bowers and Reece Conway have bagged 29 goals between them for Basildon.
