CONCORD Rangers stormed to a 3-0 win over a Millwall academy side in their final pre-season friendly.

The Beachboys have enjoyed a profitable pre-season campaign, suffering only one defeat, and they made light work of a Millwall side who beat Billericay Town last weekend.

Concord sent out a strong starting line-up, which included new under-18 manager Gary Ogilive – his first appearance since returning from playing in the USA and Canada.

It was Concord who made the early running and defender Danny Glozier opened the scoring after the half hour mark. That was the way the score stayed until half-time but tricky forward Steve Cawley doubled the advantage after an hour with a neat finish.

Joe Gardner wrapped up the win ten minutes later.

Elsewhere, Billericay travelled across the English Channel to do battle with Ryman South Guernsey.

Billericay are another side who have performed well over the past month, claiming the scalp of Conference South side Hemel Hempstead Town.

And they produced the goods again in Guernsey, running out 1-0 winners thanks to a goal from skipper Rich Halle.

Billericay hit the post early on and could have made the game safe after Halle’s goal when Rocky Sappleton headed off the bar, but Town move forward to Tuesday’s game against Charlton Athletic knowing their league kick-off against Grays Athletic comes in a few days.

East Thurrock United were the first visitors to Burnham Ramblers under the leadership of ex-Basildon United boss Bertie Brayley.

Brayley saw his Ryman North side take the lead against the Ryman Premier team but Rocks hit back to net two second half goals. First Connor Witherspoon and then Lewis Smith (from the penalty spot) gave John Coventry a win after two losses last weekend.

Basildon United looked to put their striking woes behind them against Brentwood Senior League side C.I.S.K Sports and they took a 1-0 win, despite dominating the match. The Bees also missed a penalty and hit the woodwork twice.

Great Wakering Rovers warmed up in impressive style for their Ryman North bow with a 4-0 win at recently relegated Waltham Forest.

Forest were comfortably dispatched by their Ryman North replacements with Max Kent scoring the opener after a goalkeeping error. Billy Johnson doubled the lead before Nick Skelton and Lewis Sparrow finished off the rout with an incredible 25-yard lob.

Witham Town were the visitors to Southend Manor, who have suffered a difficult pre-season. Witham took a two-goal lead after 30 minutes but Manor tightened up after that and went on to lose 2-0 after creating a number of promising openings in the second half.

Hullbridge Sports welcomed a Canvey Island XI to Lower Road and produced an impressive performance to record a 2-0 win. Perry Dunn and Liam Nash netted the goals for the Essex Senior League performers.

Bowers & Pitsea have struggled for consistency under Rob Small so far but, after two straight defeats, won 2-1 against Olympian Premier team Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Ex-Witham man Rob Whitnell equalised after Bowers shipped an early opener and Jamie Salmon made sure of the win with a second half strike.
