BASILDON United and Southend Manor notched their first league wins of the season, with both securing impressive away wins.

Basildon travelled to last year’s relegated Ryman North side Waltham Forest in what promised to be a tricky afternoon for Colin Cook’s men.

But the Bees grabbed the win in the dying moments, Lorenzo Ramsey smashing home in injury time to send the Basildon faithful home happy.

They had led until the 80th minute after George Whitby had put them ahead but Cook’s team battled back after conceding thanks to a defensive mix-up.

It could have been worse when Forest broke through with seconds to go but defender Mike Finneran got a vital touch, deflecting the ball onto the far post and moments later Ramsey struck to give Basildon all three points.

Wayne Seal’s Southend Manor ran out 3-1 winners at Greenhouse London, in what was another impressive away display.

A double from Abiola Tanimowo and another strike from Alex Stephenson sent the Manor fans home happy with the hosts netting a consolation from the penalty spot.

Hullbridge Sports threw away the lead twice to slip to another defeat against Newham.

Sports went down 3-2 at home in a topsy-turvy match at Lower Road. It all started so well for the hosts when Kurtis Clarke scored but they were dragged back before the half hour mark, with only Michael Doyle’s superb penalty save keeping the scores level.

Jamie Buffin continued his impressive early form to put Hullbridge back ahead before the break but it was Buffin’s miss into the second half that proved decisive.

The striker headed wide at the far post and moments later Newham were level. They scored a winner with ten minutes left on the clock.

Bowers & Pitsea secured an impressive point away at Barking. Barking had won all their matches up to this point but Rob Small’s side proved an impassable object to rally to their second clean sheet in three league games.
