SOUTHEND Paralympian Rob Womack is considering his future after claiming the IPC lack consistency in the judging of throwing events.

Womack was back in action in at the IPC Athletics European Championships on Saturday following a disappointing performance in the F56 discus earlier in the week – finishing seventh despite breaking the British record this year.

A best throw of exactly ten metres was only good enough for ninth in the shot put, but Womack believes he was at a disadvantage due to the lack of clarity in the rulebook.

The 43-year-old used a tight enough belt to make sure he was not gaining any leverage from his lower body in his throws – and says some of his rivals did not follow suit.

And a dejected Womack insists the IPC must apply the same rules across each of their events.

“I managed to carry on after London. I thought I was going to retire, but I don’t what we’re going to do now,” said Womack, who is being supported by Sainsbury’s, a proud sponsor of the British Paralympic Association and its athletes all the way to Rio 2016.

“We just need more consistency on the rules as I’ve been to every IPC competition this year, and every one of them has been different.

“I just want to see the consistency and all the guys do, I always struggle on the discus and feel better on the shot put because of my weight.

“Other (competitors) didn’t seem consistent with the rules and we changed belt to make sure it was very tight on lifting.

“I play to the rules and it was heart-breaking not to be fourth, and then get dropped down to eighth with two go, before dropping out in ninth place. So I’m very, very disappointed. “I want to thank British Athletics for supporting me all my time and my family has been great support. “I’m 43 years of age and I’m going to these lovely training camps and getting better and better, I’m just sorry I let people down.”
