CONCORD Rangers ended a run of three league defeats on the bounce with a typically hard-working 2-1 win at Hemel Hempstead in the Conference South.

Danny Cowley’s men had to withstand some early pressure from the home team with Luke Allen coming closest when he found himself one-on-one with Jamie Butler but shot wide.

But the Beachboys silenced the crowed in the 24th minute when Sam Collins fizzed a low drive into the net.

And that goal gave Concord the lift they needed as they began to put pressure on the home defence.

Only a goal-line clearance from Hemel kept the game at 1-0 but they could do nothing in the 36th minute when James White took aim and crashed a shot home.

Concord held their lead until the interval where Hemel boss Dean Brennan made three changes.

Those changes appeared to have paid off as five minutes after the re-start Ed Asafu-Adjaye halved the Hemel arrears.

But if anything that spurred Concord on even more and it was they and not the home team who looked most likely to score again.

But in the end 2-1 was enough for Cowley’s men who get themselves back on track after a disappointing spell of games.
