NEW Concord Rangers winger Roman-Michael Percil has promised to bring “excitement” to the club although admits he was “very disappointed” not to join Southend United.
Percil has linked up with the Beachboys after an unsuccessful trial period with the Blues, in which he scored against Great Wakering Rovers, also playing against Billericay Town and Braintree Town.
But the 19-year-old former Tottenham winger has vowed to improve at the Conference South side, whilst admitting he is still aiming to play at a higher level.
“It was an opportunity I wanted to take,” said Percil. “I am still young and looking for experience and this will be my first experience of men’s football. I am confident I will be able to show what I can do.
“There will be scouts watching at games and I hope I can use it as a stepping stone, whilst giving my all for Concord. If I perform at a high level I feel I can get a move to the Football League, but I have to work hard to make that possible.”
And Percil said he has enjoyed training with the club in the past fortnight, after getting in touch when he didn’t win a deal at Southend. “My agent spoke with Danny Cowley (Concord Rangers manager) so I went there to train with the team and I think I fit in quite well. It was a good vibe and I got on with the boys well, so I look forward to playing with them.
“I was very disappointed not to be taken on at Southend United. I thought I had done enough to sign for them, but it wasn’t to be. I think they will do well this year though and wish them the best of luck.”
Concord’s new winger says he will bring an attack-minded approach to the club, and has promised to excite fans.
“I want to bring excitement and I want to attack. I like to run with the ball and take on players so I hope I can contribute a lot to this team.”
Cowley said Percil was “a very good addition” to the squad.
“We are very pleased to have him with us. We are struggling with injuries at the moment so we are hoping he can make a contribution when he comes into the side.”
Percil is expected to make his debut against Gosport Borough on Saturday.
