ESSEX OLYMPIAN: Southend United favourite Neil Harris was once again on target for Rayleigh Town, with his strike salvaging a point for his local side.

Harris, who is now Millwall academy manager, netted for the second weekend in succession to move Rayleigh away from the drop zone.

His strike ensured they came away from Frenford Senior with a share of the spoils, the final score 1-1.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division Hannakins Farm lost for the first time this season to go down to table-topping Kelvedon Hatch. Two goals from Lee Cody were enough to condemn the visitors to defeat, and saw them slip to 4th in the process.

In Division One White Ensign ran riot to move to the top of the league, winning 9-1 at Herongate Athletic.

Yaw Danso was the hero, netting a hat-trick, with Dan Brown, Joe Gilbert and Daryl Cooper all scoring twice.

Leigh Ramblers and Old Southendian also picked up their first wins of the season to move away from the bottom of the table.

A Shaun Bennett goal was enough for Leigh to beat Shenfield, who were top of the division before the match.

And Old Southendian thrashed Old Chelmsford 4-1 to climb up to 4th. Goals from Jared Brand, Nicholas Cardosi, Mark Hampshire and Oliver Tatton-Bennett ensured their opponents ended the day in the relegation zone.

Rochford Town won a thriller against local rivals Basildon Town, although it wasn’t enough to dislodge their opponents from the summit of Division Two.

A Carl Read double, Ben Smith and Lee Anderson struck to deny Basildon, with Chris Charlery netting a treble for the visitors.

Southend Sports remain at the top of Division Three after salvaging an unlikely point against Broomfield.

Sam Lake and Chris Baddeley scored the hosts goals to keep them top on goal difference.
