A GOALKEEPING error was enough to see Canvey Island lose at home against a strong Dulwich Hamlet side.
On-loan West Ham United goalkeeper Tim Brown fumbled a free-kick to hand Dulwich the lead, which they maintained until the final whistle.
And the home side started the game poorly, going behind after only four minutes.
A shot from the edge of the area by Nyren Clunis struck centre back John Easterford, diverting the ball to Xavier Vidal who slid the ball past Brown.
Ishmail Kamara and Harrison Chatting both had half chances to level the game but missed the target but Canvey did get their equaliser with a third of the game to go.
Chatting forced away keeper Oshane Brown into a sprawling save and from Anthony Thomas’ corner, John Sands fired a spectacular half-volley home off the underside of the bar.
But only moments later, a free kick from Ashley Carew skidded off the wet turf and through Brown’s arms and legs before crossing the line.
