CONCORD Rangers beat near rivals Chelmsford City in a hotly contested derby.
A goal from Lewis Taaffe proved enough for the visitors, with the frontman netting after 20 minutes following good work from Steve Cawley.
The home side missed a penalty after Aaron Lennox fouled Luke Callander in the box and the Clarets were hit with a double blow when James Love was harshly red-carded for a tackle on Gary Ogilvie.
Concord missed chances to extend the lead, with Ogilvie smashing the post but the hosts also missed a fantastic chance at the death to steal a point.
Concord's win sees them leapfrog Chelmsford in the Conference South table.
In the Robert Dyas League Cup Billericay Town crushed Great Wakering Rovers 8-2.
A hat-trick from Jacob Cleaver, a brace from Seedy Njie, an old goal, Steve Sheehan and Hullbridge Sports trialist Liam Nash netted the goals with Billy Johnson and Scott Clarke scoring for Wakering.
