RYMAN PREMIER: Billericay Town manager Craig Edwards has added Millwall academy star Dylan Casey to his squad as he bids to avoid a defensive crisis ahead of tomorrow’s match against Kingstonian.

Three of Town’s regular back four are all doubtful or absent for the encounter, with captain Richard Halle (ankle) and Ryan Scott (knee) doubts while George Beavan is a long-term absentee.

And Edwards has moved to replace Beavan with the Irish defender, who signed a professional contract in May and who has also played for Leicester City.

And Edwards says the 19-year-old will fit in well.

“We have had a few players play at left-back but they are right-footed,” he said. “Dylan will fit the role nicely and we are lucky we have a good relationship with Neil Harris (Millwall Academy manager) to make the deal happen.”

Town have lost their last five Ryman Premier matches and were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend, although they have won two of the last four games. Kingstonian have also struggled in recent weeks, winning one of only five home matches so far this term.

And Edwards has rung the changes – releasing Junior Appiah, loaning out Rowan Liburd to Thamesmead Town and bringing in youngsters such as Liam Nash, who is expected to make his league bow for Town tomorrow.

“We are looking very strong up the top of the pitch,” said the Town manager.

“What we need is a bit of luck. The harder you work, the luckier the get and this group work very hard.

“It is a lonely place when you are on a run like this but we have the quality to move through it. Once we get momentum we will win games and if we take six points from Kingstonian and Hendon (on Monday) we will be three points or so off the play-offs.”

East Thurrock United travel to Bury Town as they look to continue their fine start to the season.

John Coventry’s men could climb into the top ten if they win at struggling Bury tomorrow, although they may have to make the trip without record goal-scorer Sam Higgins.

Higgins, along with Reece Harris, faces a late fitness test ahead of the match and Coventry has also been rocked by the news that striker Manny Osei – who is still searching for his first goal since joining in the summer – could be out for up to eight weeks.

Rocks couldn’t get the better of Bury last season, with both matches ending as draws but, with only two wins from 17 games, they will be comfortable of coming away from Suffolk with the points.

Canvey Island will be looking to make it four league wins in five against AFC Hornchurch.

Hornchurch are second bottom but have won three matches on their travels this season, although Canvey have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Captain Jay Curran is sitting out the final game of his five-match suspension.
