CONCORD Rangers put in an outstanding display to draw 1-1 with league-leaders Boreham Wood, and were within inches of claiming a famous win.

Concord could have been forgiven for having one eye on the biggest match in their history, against Mansfield in the FA Cup on Tuesday, but they were superb and extended their run of only one defeat in 14 matches.

Concord handed a debut to on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Josh Vickers, while Cheye Alexander made his first league start and Jordan Chiedozie returned from injury.

Graeme Montgomerie opened the scoring thanks after a ricochet fell into his path, with his shot zipping past Vickers to open the scoring.

Concord struggled to create openings in the first half but came alive in the second half, with Sam Collins drawing a save from James Russell soon after the restart.

And the goal that won the game was worthy of winning any match, as Danny Glozier's cross wasmmet by a terrific header from Chiedozie who bulleted a header home.

Danny Cowley's men should have won the match when substitute Joe Gardner scuffed an effort which was cleared off the line.
