CONCORD Rangers’ chairman Antony Smith has said a Concord Rangers victory tonight could be worth as much as £25,000 to the club.

The Beachboys will win £18,000 if they can beat Mansfield Town tonight and, taking into account the gate revenue from last week’s match at Field Mill and tonight’s match at the Aspect Arena that could swell even further.

Ticket sales have been booming since they went on sale last Wednesday, with 500 snapped up in the opening hour-and-a-half.

Since then, hundreds more on Canvey Island and south Essex have secured the hottest ticket in town tonight, with current sales standing at more than 1,200.

And Smith says he expects that number to rise today.

“The interest has been fantastic,” he said. “We are doing very well on the pitch at the moment and people are, quite rightly, getting behind the team.

“It is brilliant to see our club here and it makes me very proud.”

Smith said he would be happy to see so many people at the club, with the previous highest attendance around 1,100, and says the club is trying to sell even more with the match looming.

“We sold some tickets at The FitzWimarc School yesterday and it will be quite an occasion on the day.”

Smith said the pitch would also be ready for the clash, although it is likely to suit the Concord players more than the visiting professional outfit.

One corner of the pitch is being monitored by the grounds staff but, despite a severe weather warning being in place until 10am this morning, Smith is confident the game will go ahead.

“I drove down yesterday to check the one corner of the pitch which was a bit soggy,” he said. “But the rest of it will be fine and we have the best guys looking after the surface.”

Smith confirmed Mansfield had only sold around 55 tickets as of yesterday afternoon, a response he described as “disappointing”, and has backed the Beachboys faithful to out-sing the visitors on a historic day for the club.

The winners of the replay tonight will travel to League Two Cambridge United on Saturday, December 6.

*Tickets can still be purchased at the clubhouse, off Thames Road, today until 1pm. Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s and concessions.
