ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE: Bowers & Pitsea have been bolstered by a number of returning faces for tomorrow’s clash against Newham – but whether the game goes ahead is another matter.

Rob Small’s men have been inconsistent in recent weeks, having won two of their last four matches, but go into the game in confident mood. They sit four points behind this weekend’s opponents, but have played five fewer games than them.

However, the biggest battle this weekend could be getting the game on, with the Len Salmon Stadium groundstaff working overtime to ensure the game goes ahead.

Luke Wilson is back from suspension, while Scott Pethers (ankle) could also be back in contention. They will still be without Julian Simon-Parson and Ross Adams (suspended), while Martin Llewellyn (leg), Sean Hinton (knee) and Tom Hine (rib) are all still out.

Newham have seen their last two games called off, but have won three of the last four.

Southend Manor visit Barking in what promises to be a very tough test.

Manor are already 20 points behind their opponents, and come off the back of a 4-2 defeat to Enfield 1893 in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy, having led with 17 minutes remaining.

Wayne Seal’s men are on a five-match losing run and are hoping to end that tomorrow.

Hullbridge Sports visit Eton Manor, and will be confident of improving their recent run of form.

Despite a strong result and performance against AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the FA Vase last weekend their league form hasn’t been great, winning only one of the last six games.

Manor have been struggling, and sit third bottom after 13 games.

Basildon United’s match against London Bari will be a good chance for them to return to form, after they dropped points late on in their last outing.

The Bees have seen several postponements at the TLM Stadium this term and, with the rain set to continue, Craig Gillam has his doubts as to whether the game will go ahead.

They are face an outfit buoyed by a terrific win over Barking, inflicting only their second defeat of a superb season to date. Terry Griffiths is suspended for the clash, while Russell Harley and Georgie Smith are available.
