Great Wakering Rovers 1-2 Ware
From Burroughs Park
Ryman One North
GREAT Wakering Rovers went down to a quick-fire second-half double as their inconsistent recent run went on.
Dan Trenkel’s side have struggled for consistency since the turn of the year, but came into the game in confident mood having crushed Burnham Ramblers 6-1 in the week.
Jay Nash’s first-half strike wasn’t enough for the hosts, as Anthony Thomas and Tyler Christian-Law scored after the break to put Ware back in charge.
And when Stuart Hepburn, who stepped back into the side after missing last weekend’s 6-1 loss at AFC Sudbury, was red carded with 20 minutes to go it was always going to be an uphill task for Rovers.
The game started evenly with both sides exchanging possession, but it was Nash who opened the scoring after neat interplay.
And, despite Ware fighting back that was how it stayed until the break.
But the game changed on the hour mark when Thomas pulled the visitors level. And minutes later the game was turned on its head when Christian-Law netted.
It was Rovers third defeat in five games ahead of next weekend’s match against Chatham Town.
Great Wakering Rovers: Seal, Pugsley, Kent, Slater, Hepburn, Sparrow (Trenkel), Bradley, Ranger, Johnson, Nash, Strickland
