Enfield Town 4-0 Billericay Town
From the Queen Elizabeth II Ground
Ryman Premier League
BILLERICAY Town were swept aside by Enfield Town as they crumpled to a heavy 4-0 defeat on their travels.
There was nothing between the sides ahead of kick-off with the home side only a point above Billericay in the division.
But the teams were poles apart on the field, with four unanswered goals sending Billericay back home empty handed, with Ryan Scott also sent off.
Craig Edwards’ men came into the match buoyed by their impressive recent run of results, and had crushed Enfield 5-0 only six weeks ago.
Missing captain Richard Halle, Town were looking for a strong defensive performance but they were behind shortly after the half-hour mark.
Corey Whiteley scored the goal and it got better for the hosts soon after when Scott was given his marching orders in what the away fans felt was a soft decision.
And, moment before half-time, Bobby Devyne lived up to his name with a sparkling run and finish, leaving goalkeeper Joe Wright no chance.
Billericay needed a change in fortunes but their task was made seemingly impossible when the two goal scorers combined for Devyne to make it 3-0.
The scoring was completed with six minutes to go, as Jordan Lockie and Michael Kalu combined for the former to slot home a fine final goal of the afternoon.
*Billericay will be looking to move past the defeat against Whyteleafe FC in the Ryman League Cup quarter-final on Monday (16th).
The game kicks off at New Lodge at 7:45pm.
Billericay Town: Wright, Nesbitt, Williams, Sheehan, Scott, Poole, Edwards, Dunne, Nash (Akosa), Liburd (Obafemi), Sappleton (Melaugh)
