BASILDON United threw away a winning advantage to lose a thrilling match 4-3 at Clapton.

Separated by nine points in the league, Basildon were looking to claim back-to-back wins after Wednesday’s win at London Bari.

But things got off to the worst possible start for the visitors, with the Bees going 2-0 down in the early stages.

Recent addition Khadeem Campbell pulled one back before half-time before Ryan Jenkins leveled.

Craig Gillam’s team then took the lead thanks to Terry Griffiths but, having worked so hard to take the lead, two late goals punished Basildon, and Clapton took the points.

Bowers & Pitsea claimed their 14th win in 15 matches to climb into fourth place in the league.

Rob Small’s side have been in stunning form in recent weeks, and were too strong for Waltham Forest, with Lewis Manor netting a brace.

Manor scored after 10 minutes to hand the hosts the lead, following Rob Whitnell’s flick-on but, despite creating a number of chances, they could not extend their advantage.

And they were made to pay soon after the break, when Mikke Mousse found the net in a crowded penalty area.

But Bowers were not to be denied and Manor scored following good work from Dan Brown.

Whitnell was denied before Jamie Salmon crossed for Frankie Everett added a third.

Hullbridge Sports drew 0-0 with Southend Manor.

There were not many opportunities in the match, although former Sports goalkeeper Lawrence Priddle did spill the ball into the path of ex-Manor striker Charlie Little, but he shot wide with the goal gaping.

Reece Brandon came close for the hosts late on but nothing could separate the sides.
