Billericay Town 1-3 Maidstone United

From New Lodge

Ryman Premier League

BILLERICAY Town went down 3-1 against league leaders Maidstone United as they surrendered their fine unbeaten home record.

Three goals in the space of five minutes at the end of the first half condemned Craig Edwards' side to defeat, after they had taken the lead through Harry Baker's strike.

Billericay hadn't lost in 13 league matches at New Lodge but knew they would face a stern examination against the league's top side.

Although Town got off to the best possible start when Baker profited from an Affy Obafemi miscue to slide his effort past Lee Worgan.

Back came Maidstone, with Frannie Collin coming close with a fierce free-kick but the goal did come five minutes before the break.

Good work from Jay May down the flank saw a ball pulled back to Jack Parkinson and he eased the ball past Joe Wright.

Provider turned scorer two minutes later, as May unleashed a powerful half-volley past the Town stopper.

And it was to get even worse before the interval, when May scored a carbon copy of his first goal with a drive past Wright.

The away side missed a chance to extend their advantage before Ricky Sappleton hit an effort wide but it was not to be for Town.
