Hendon 1-0 Canvey Island
From the Earlsmead Stadium
Ryman Premier Division
CANVEY Island’s winless run continued as they went down 1-0 at promotion-chasing Hendon.
The defeat means the Gulls are now eight games without a win, as they aim to pull themselves away from the relegation quagmire.
A goal in the second-half from Kevin Maclaren was enough to send Danny Heale’s men back to Canvey with nothing, as he struck home from the edge of the penalty area.
Steven Smith, Jack Simmons and Jay Curran all came close but couldn’t find a way past Ben McNamara in the home goal.
The result leaves Canvey eight points above the drop zone, having played a game more than most of the sides below them.
Canvey visit Harrow Borough on Saturday.
Canvey Island: Brown, Collis, Dumas, Smith, Banton, Jones (Tweddell), Sykes, Chatting, Showunmi (Agyakwa), Curran, Simmons
