Redbridge 1-3 Great Wakering Rovers

From Oakside Stadium

Ryman One North

GREAT Wakering Rovers will be playing Ryman One North football next season after a fine 3-1 win against struggling Redbridge.

Goals from Lewis Sparrow, Dan Trenkel and Jay Nash gave Rovers the points after a difficult spell had seen them pick up only one point from three matches.

Rovers started like a house on fire and took the lead after only five minutes.

…was fouled in the penalty area and captain Sparrow stepped up. However, his initial penalty was saved but he was on hand to score from the rebound.

Adam Seal was again in fine form to keep the hosts in the lead and Rovers took their single goal advantage into half-time.

However, Redbridge the started the second period impressively and were level within four minutes.

Gavin Cockman was the man on the mark, striking home at the near post.

However, Rovers had re-taken the lead 11 minutes later and it was a goal from talisman Trenkel.

The player/ manager slid in at the far post to guide his shot inside the post, although he injured himself in the process, going off to be replaced by Tom Strickland.

The goal of the match was scored by top-scorer Nash with five minutes to go. Having turned down Ryman Premier League side Witham last month to stay with the club and fire them to safety he has now got his wish, beating two players to rifle an effort home.
