ALEX Woodyard played 90 minutes of England C’s 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland under-21s.
The Concord Rangers midfielder, inset, started his first game for the non-league based international outfit in Galway yesterday, as England C won 2-1 in an international friendly.
The 22-year-old was selected by Paul Fairclough to start in central midfield against the young Irish side, having made his bow for the C team in February’s 2-1 defeat against Cyprus.
Goals from Halifax Town’s Matty Pearson and Aldershot Town’s Jordan Roberts proved the difference, in what could be the C team’s last ever game, as the FA debate whether to scrap the team in a cost-cutting measure.
Woodyard was named fans’ player of the season at Concord for his combative displays last season.
