NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH: Concord Rangers manager Adam Flanagan says it is imperative his team return to winning ways against one of his old clubs Dartford tonight, after they fell to their first defeat of the season on Saturday.

The Beach Boys went down 2-1 at Truro City, but have the chance to bounce straight back when last year’s relegated Conference National side visit the Aspect Arena.

Flanagan, inset, played for three seasons for the Darts from 2007, and said he was looking out for the match the moment the fixture list came out.

And he said he will enjoy testing himself against the Kent side, after the defeat in the south west on Saturday.

“My thoughts from Saturday was that it was a game that we should have been winning,” he said.

“Defensively we were poor in the second half and errors cost us the game. Fair play to Truro - they have a game plan that they are well drilled in and will make home fixtures tough for teams.

“After losing it is imperative to get back to winnings ways as quickly as possible and we have the opportunity tonight to put the wrongs of Saturday right.

“Dartford will be a tough test and offer some of the challenges we experienced against Truro so it will be interesting to see how players perform.

“I had three fantastic years at Dartford so for me it was one of the games I was looking for when the fixtures came out. Dartford still have some of the players within their squad that I was fortunate to grace the pitch with and also I am looking forward to testing myself against Tony Burman (manager), Steve Mosely (first team coach) and Paul Sawyer (assistant manager) who were the management team during the same period.

“I expect a very tough game but if we play how I know the players can then we will give Dartford a good game and will be in with a chance of causing an upset.”

Dartford are expected to challenge at the top this season and boast former Canvey duo Jack Simmons and George Sykes, but they also suffered a setback at the weekend as they drew with Sutton United.

Tony Stokes, who was sent off on Saturday, will be eligible, with his suspension not kicking in until the end of the month.
