Great Wakering Rovers 3-4 Wroxham

GREAT Wakering Rovers let a two-goal lead slip as they fell to their first defeat of the season against Wroxham.
Dan Trenkel’s men, who have started the season with three wins and a draw, came into the match as underdogs but were on the verge of causing another upset, after strikes from Max Kent, Lewis Sparrow and Jay Nash had put them 3-1 up.
But they were unable to deny the Norfolk side, who will be amongst the favourites to challenge at the top this term.
Kent had opened the scoring after just two minutes with his first of the season only for Jordan King to level the match five minutes later.
Sparrow headed Rovers back in front and when Nash slid in just before half-time it looked as though it was going to be another happy day for Trenkel’s men.
The turning point was arguably a miss by Billy Johnson moments into the second-half, and the away side took heart from that, with Nick Davey making it 3-2 with half an hour to go.
But Nathan Stone hit back twice in nine minutes to take the game away from the hosts and ensure the points head back to Wroxham.
Great Wakering Rovers: Seal, Kent, Sparrow, Hepburn, Pugsley (Vaughan), Sands, Ranger, Radley, Nash, Johnson (Trenkel), Worrell (Cleaver)
