l Lined up in a 4-3-3 formation

GK – Mel Capleton: A man with great experience and a great leader! Wouldn’t stop organising the back four at Grays and Canvey and would always save one-on-ones. He was so reliable.

RB – Greg Oates: A class act who was outstanding when we won the league with Billericay. Mr Reliable and a rock at the back.

LB – Micky Haswell: I played with him for a few different clubs including Southend and Chelmsford City and what a player he was! It was just a shame he was forced to retire after he broke his ankle. A great athlete who could play a bit too!

CB – Rob Swaine: He was another true leader at such a young age at Billericay! He would win every header without fail, was so solid at the back and would guarantee you at least 10 goals a season

CB - Andy Sussex: I played with him at Grays Athletic! By that point he was 40 and still a top player. He wouldn't lose a header or a tackle. A great leader and he would be my skipper

CM – Dave Rainford: A super player who would score goals, wins his tackles and would be box-to-box for 90 minutes. A great passer of the ball too when I was with him at Grays and Chelmsford.

CM – Glenn Poole: He has the best left foot I have played with, sends in some great crosses, works double hard and has scored some unbelievable goals. He is a great passer of the ball too! Played with him at Ford United, Billericay and Canvey.

CM – Dave Lee: His nickname was ‘Mustard’ at Canvey because he was that good. He wouldn't give the ball away, could pick out a pass in the tightest areas and he scored a few goals as well

ST – Andy Douglas: I played with him at Grays and he was the best finisher I have ever seen and he had the work rate to go with it. Had he not suffered a serious injury he would have gone back into the professional game that season.

ST Matt Harrold: Big, strong and had a great touch for a big man. He would hold the ball up to bring in the midfielders into play and he scored some unbelievable goals when I was at Southend and Grays.

ST – Nathan Elder: Nathan, who I played with at Ford United, has had a great career in the game, gives defenders nightmares, and is a real power house who could run as well.
