AN injury-time winner condemned Concord Rangers to their fourth defeat on the bounce against Bishop’s Stortford.

The Beach Boys put in a fine performance against Stortford but a terrific hat-trick from Elliott Buchanan, his second of term already, including a last-minute winner.

Goals from Joe Gardner and Steve King looked set to ensure a share of the spoils only for the late hammer blow.

Gardner had handed the visitors the advantage with only six minutes on the clock as he kept his composure to score well.

And the Beach Boys kept the advantage until the half-hour mark when Buchanan got his first of the afternoon.

That was the score at the interval, but Adam Flanagan’s men conceded just three minutes in the second-period. A foul in the penalty area on Frankie Merrifield allowed the striker to calmly finish from the spot, with Ben McNamara well beaten.

Concord swarmed forward in search of a leveller but couldn’t find a breakthrough, with striker Tony Stokes suspended after a red-card against Truro City earlier in the month.

However, they did grab the leveller their play deserved through their skipper. Steve King got his head on the end of a terrific Ben Greenhalgh cross to make it 2-2.

The Beach Boys continued to press but were made to pay in the final minute when another spot kick was awarded to the frustration of the visitors, and Buchanan did the rest.
