NEW Concord Rangers assistant manager Glen Alzapiedi says he will do all he can to help boss Adam Flanagan through the club’s period of transition.

The Beach Boys announced former assistant manager and first-team coach Alzapiedi was returning to the club on Tuesday, after a year in charge of Ryman One North club Cheshunt.

However, after falling out with the Cheshunt owner over a decision not to play his son in goal for a recent match, Alzapiedi decided to leave the club and return to Concord, following the departure of Jody Brown last week.

And, having spent two years as former manager Danny Cowley’s assistant, he will now be working underneath new boss Adam Flanagan.

And he says he will do all he can to help the new boss.

“I think I am quite set in my ways,” said Alzapiedi. “I am good at what I do and, with regard to coming back to Concord, I will do the same as I did with Danny with Flan (Adam Flanagan). I will assist him and help him and the team.

“A lot has changed but that has to be expected after such a long time with one manager.

“The club is in transition but the structure is the same which is important. The club will evolve in line with Adam’s plans and I am here to help.”

Concord sit 17th after 11 games, and face a potential banana skin in the FA Cup second qualifying round this weekend, when they visit Ryman Premier side Wingate & Finchley.

And Alzapiedi didn’t want to comment on what the Beach Boys, who finished seventh last season, could achieve this term, without watching them play first.

“It is hard for me to say what the team can achieve as I haven’t seen them play this season. It would be presumptuous but I will get a better idea over the coming weeks and then I will be in a better position to discuss everything with Adam.”
