EAST Thurrock United will send a youthful side to rivals Grays Athletic in the Ryman League Cup tonight, as manager John Coventry admits Rocks have bigger fish to fry this week.

Rocks travel to Mill Field in the second round of the competition, and Coventry says he is more concerned about avoiding significant injuries, ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Staines Town.

Grays, who are also looking to reach the final qualifying round on Saturday, are expected to play a youthful side tonight.

“Let’s just say I went to watch the under-18s last week and took a load of forms with me,” said Coventry. “I have players that need minutes. Ashley Miller hasn’t played much football this season and James Walker might get a run out but I just want to avoid injuries.

“We don’t have a reserve team or under-21 team so it will be a chance for the young players to impress.”

Grays reached the final of the competition last year, losing 3-2 to Hendon.
